Galaxy of Stars

16th Annual Galaxy of Stars & Tommy Awards Luncheon Raises $101,000!

Nobis Works would like to thank everyone who contributed to this year's Galaxy of Stars.  We raised more than $101,000 (the most ever!) that will help provide job training and job placement to youth and adults with disabilities and other barriers to employment. First Lady Sandra Deal and Nobis Works co-founders, former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Tommy Nobis and Bobbie Knopf, presented the prestigious Governor’s Award to Scott Hamilton, head coach of Paulding County High School’s football team, and The Kroger Company.  Reynold and Patsy Jennings of Kennesaw served as honorary chairs and Debbyn Milligan of Hiram served as  event chairwoman.

The event highlights workplace successes of youth and adults with disabilities and other barriers to employment.  This year’s event honored 24 extraordinary nominees in seven categories.  The theme of this year’s event was “The Power of Purpose,” inspired by Richard Leider’s book by the same name.  In it he says, “Purpose fills us with passion, drive and direction.”  That power of purpose can be seen every day in the clients served by Nobis Works and Reworx.  We are delighted that almost 300 guests joined the celebration.

 Become a Sponsor

The Galaxy of Stars event recognizes individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment for their outstanding efforts within the workplace. Companies, programs and organizations throughout Georgia also are recognized for their inclusion of these individuals. In 2014, 300 people from across Georgia attended this event and helped raise more than $101,000 to fund job training, employment and on-the-job supports directly affecting youth and adults with disabilities.  Proceeds from the luncheon benefit the Tommy Nobis Foundation and go directly to provide job training and placement services and programs for the almost 1,000 individuals we serve annually.
